Frances Margaret Milne, NEE Tener - update
On May 20, 2005 I had posted some material on this author, daughter of Isaac W. Tener.
I just received a letter from the San Luis Cemetery, formerly the Oddfellows Cemetery, located at 2 Higuera Street, San Luis Obispo, California. When we visited there, we had tried to locate the grave sites - but they needed to research the locations for us. This letter reveals those locations.
Sadly, "there are no markers (headstones) on the grave space. We learn the following:
Frances M. Milne died April 23, 1910 at 63 years of age, is buried in Lot 7, Plot 4 - Old Masonic;
James P. Milne died May 13, 1893 at 58 years, born Scotland, is buried Lot 7, Plot 9 - Old Masonic;
Frances M. Tener, wife of Isaac W. Tener, died Nov. 24, 1897, 88 years, Lot 7, Plot 4 - Old Masonic.
Periodically, Frances Milne's books have surfaced on the internet. She had published poetry. One notation I located indicated that the published was in San Francisco, and much of her material was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and resulting fires. The library in San Luis Obispo does have at least one of her books in the Historical Collection in their Reference Section.
